FinnCham Brazil, the newest associate of Rio de Janeiro Naval Technology Cluster

In March, various Finnish companies became members of the Rio de Janeiro Naval Technology Cluster including our Chamber of Commerce Finland-Brazil. According to FinnCham Brazil’s CEO, Honorary Consul Sergio Chamone, Brazil and Finland have had a strong collaboration in the naval industry over the last years. 

During that month, Consul Kari Puurunen and FinnCham Brazil’s CEO, Honorary Consul Sergio Chamone, met with the Rio de Janeiro Naval Technology Cluster and EMGEPRON, a state-owned enterprise under Brazil’s MoD. 

The main topic on the agenda was the naval shipbuilding industry. 

Also, Sergio has been awarded a diploma (Friend of the Monte Bastione Group) by the Commander of the Brazilian Army’s 21st Artillery Group, also known as Monte Bastione Group, which recognizes his contributions to the organization. The event was held in Niteroi (RJ). 

Last year, Sergio Chamone was even awarded an important decoration, the Friend of Navy Medal. Created in August 1966, it recognizes those who have contributed to the Brazilian Navy’s mission. Mr. Chamone was joined by Ambassador Johanna Karanko
