Amazonia in Loco, an initiative of EuroChambers, was organised by FinnCham Brazil (President – Sergio Chamone) and Spanish Chamber of Commerce (President – Marcos Madureira).

The 3 days’ conference included trade show, business roundtables, 8 panels with speakers from various fields of knowledge, authorities, diplomats, researchers and businessmen.

Amazônia in Loco’s main objectives were to contribute to the understanding of problems currently faced by the Amazon region and thus propose constructive solutions.

The Conference also featured lectures from three Ministers of State: Ville Skinnari (Foreign Trade / Finland), Eurico Brilhante (Internationalization / Portugal) and Teresa Cristina (Agriculture / Brazil), Ambassadors Ignácio Ybáñez (European Union), Garcia Casas (Spain) and Odd Rudd (Norway). The conference ended with the speech of the Vice President of Brazil, Hamilton Mourão.

Ambassador of Finland in Brazil, Jouko Leinonen, who also attended the conference, accompanied Minister Skinnari on his extensive and successful official visit to Brazil.

Carta de Belém (Letter of Belém) contains key information about the current situation in the Amazon region and recommendations for improvements. It will be translated and send to governments of EU countries.

The letter was delivered to the Vice-President of Brazil Hamilton Mourão and to the Ambassador of European Union, Ignacio Ybáñez by Sergio Chamone, President of FinnCham and Alejandro Goméz, Executive Director of Spanish Chamber.

Jouko Leinonen, the Ambassador of Finland, Ignacio Ybáñez, the Ambassador of European Union, Garcia Casas, the Ambassador of Spain, were also present at the ceremony.
