Official visit of Ambassador Jouko Leinonen to Rio de Janeiro

Ambassador Jouko Leinonen made an official visit to Rio de Janeiro from 30th of September 2021 to 1st of October 2021.

At Laranjeiras Palace, official residence, he met with the Governor, Claudio Castro and his staff.

The following priorities of cooperation were discussed : Education, Digitalisation, Conectivity, leakage prevention in tubes and 5G. The President of Nokia, Ailton Santos greatly contributed with 5G understanding and use for government use!

At the Mayor Office Ambassador Leinonen was received by Secretary of Integrity, Marcelo Calero, a friend of Finland, who knows well Finland and values! They discussed about transparency, smart city with 5G also with the participation of Ailton Santos, Head of Nokia Brazil

Ambassador Jouko Leinonen was also invited to Petrobras where he met with President Joaquim Silva e Lunaand directors, as well as a delegation of Finnish companies. Discussions included Finnish-Brazilian cooperation in the energy sector, 5G, innovations, meteorology and helidecs security.

The Ambassador visited the Navy where he was greeted with military honors. He discussed with the Admiral (Almirante de Esquadra), Alípio Jorge Silva, and his officers about cooperation in the Naval industry. Exchanges between navies, technological support in international operations, Antarctica and various Finnish technologies in satellites, propulsion and meteorology were discussed.

In addition, he visited UFRJ (his University where he studied History of Brazil-Finland relations), Naval Museum, had lunch with Nordic consuls, as well as “jamones y vinos” with the Consul General of Spain.
