Brazilian Navy’s (Marinha do Brasil) Antarctic Support Ship (NApAnt) project kick-off

FinnCham Brazil’s CEO, Honorary Consul General Sergio Chamone attended a ceremony in the municipality of Aracruz (ES) to celebrate the Brazilian Navy’s (Marinha do Brasil) Antarctic Support Ship (NApAnt) project kick-off. NApAnt is part of the Brazilian Antarctic Program (PROANTAR).

Established on January 12, 1982, the Brazilian Antarctic Program (PROANTAR) aims to promote diverse and high-quality scientific research in the Antarctic region, with the purpose of:

  1. Understanding the phenomena that occur there, which have global repercussions and, in particular, on the Brazilian territory; and
  2. Ensuring the country’s status as a Consultative Member of the Antarctic Treaty, achieved in 1983, which guarantees Brazil’s full participation in decision-making processes related to the future of the White Continent.
