Thyago's ties to the Finnish community in Brazil date back to the 1990s, so his path to FinnCham was a natural one. When the entity was elevated to a Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2015, he succeeded Fredrik Boethius as Executive Secretary, with the mandate to carry the founding work forward.

During his tenure he built the Chamber's first institutional relationships with Finnish companies operating in Brazil, introducing them to the newly created Team Finland effort to leverage bilateral business. Working alongside founder and then President Jan Jarne, now Chairman of the Board, he organized the Chamber's business luncheons, the reception of Finnish political and business delegations, and joint events with partner chambers of EuroCâmaras, a period in which FinnCham began attending EuroCâmaras meetings to gain an active voice among the European chambers in Brazil. He also created the Chamber's website and visual identity.

In 2020 he took leave from the position to found his own law firm, remaining an individual member of the Chamber. In June 2022, at FinnCham's tenth-anniversary ceremony, he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Sisu in recognition of his contributions to the Chamber.

Thyago is a lawyer admitted to the Brazilian Bar (OAB/SP), with a background in marketing and business that spans multinational consulting and advisory firms, including PwC and Invest Partners. He holds a law degree from Rio Branco, a postgraduate degree in Civil Law and Civil Procedure from Escola Paulista de Direito, a degree in Communication and Marketing from ESPM, and an international postgraduate degree in Business Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas, with extension at the University of California, San Diego.

His practice focuses on cross-border business, corporate and contract law, regulatory compliance and environmental matters, advising companies entering or expanding in international markets.
