FinnCham was present at the European Week in São Paulo, Brazil, through its Chairman of the Board

The Europe Week, a promotion of EUNIC Brazil - Association of Cultural Institutes and Embassies of EU countries - and the European Union Delegation in Brazil, reaches its 12th edition with a wide cultural program distributed in 11 Brazilian capitals. From April to July, the public can follow classic and pop music concerts, academic events, exhibitions, the European Film Festival, and - only in Brasilia - the traditional European Bazaar and Race European Union.

Find the program of the events on the brand new website of Semana da Europa and follow the updates of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

The project was designed to celebrate the Europe Day, celebrated on May 9, to remember the peace and unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historic Declaration Schuman, presented in Paris in 1950, he proposed a new form of political cooperation for Europe. The statement is considered the beginning of what is now the European Union. "It was a way to bury all the first half of the twentieth century was wrong for Europe and the world and create completely new potential for the XXI century", says João Cravinho, EU ambassador in Brazil.

In Brazil, the Europe Week started in 2004 with only three institutions - Alliance Française, English Culture and Goethe-Zentrum Brasília - but is now organized by an association that unites 20 countries, represented by 24 institutions, and the Delegation of the European Union "Far beyond to show the best cultural, political and sporting aspects of a united Europe, the European Week seeks to promote activities in a two-way street, with the growing contribution of Brazilian institutions," said Sabine Plattner, president of EUNIC Brazil. The various activities were designed so that "together with our Brazilian friends can share ideas about Europe and Europe's role in the world, beyond the relations between the European Union and Brazil," added the Ambassador Cravinho.

The 12th edition of the European Week has the fundamental support of dozens of institutions and local and European, public and private partners such as governments and state departments, cultural institutions, foundations, universities, theaters among others. Thanks to these partnerships, the European Week can count on your schedule with events held in 11 Brazilian cities, distributed in five regions of the country: North (Manaus and Belem) and Northeast (Aracaju) to the South (Florianopolis and Curitiba), through the Southeast (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Vitória and Belo Horizonte) and Midwest (Brasilia and Goiânia).

In São Paulo, the European Week counted with the participation of FinnCham Brazil's Chairman of the Board, Mr. Jan Jarne, as you can see in the pictures below:
